Alexandra Bugailiskis (born January 9, 1956 in Hamilton, Ontario) is a current Canadian diplomat. In September 2010 she joined the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs of Carleton University as a Distinguished Senior Fellow and Diplomat in Residence. From April 2008 until August 2010 she was the Assistant Deputy Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean. Previously she held the post of Assistant Deputy Minister and Executive Director for the America's Strategy for one year. From September 2003 until September 2007 she was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cuba. She was formerly High Commissioner to Cyprus and concurrently the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Syria. At the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade she had previously served as Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean and Director for Central America and the Caribbean. In addition to her Head of Mission postings, she has served abroad in Ghana (with concurrent accreditations in Benin, Togo and Liberia), and in Guatemala (with accreditation to El Salvador).
She is an alumna of Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with honours and a Master of Arts. Ms Bugailiskis is a member of the Advisory Council of NPSIA and a member of the Board of Directors of FOCAL - The Canadian Foundation for the Americas.
